Dear Prospective Islander,
We are pleased that you are considering re-locating to the island of Sanday.
The likelihood is that you are already strongly attracted by the prospect of living and working in a beautiful and unique area of Scotland, within an environment and a community which together offer a quality of life which would be difficult to match elsewhere.
Our down-loadable booklet Sanday: A Place to Work, A Place to Live has been prepared with the intention of providing detailed information about our island, and about some of the attractions of becoming part of our very dynamic and forward-looking community. Included in our booklet you will find information about:
- Aspects of life in Sanday , including what we, as current residents, see as the significant strengths of our community, and the associated benefits for ourselves and our families. The Events Calendar on our community website www.sanday.co.uk should also convey a flavour of just how much community activity there is for islanders and visitors of all ages.
- Sanday Community School, its ethos and its achievements. Even if you do not have children of school age, you may well be interested to see what a happy, vibrant and caring micro-community we have at the heart of the island. As suggested on the relevant page of this booklet, we would strongly recommend that you take a look at the school’s own website www.sanday.orkney.sch.uk
Our 14 page booklet. Click on the link below to download a PDF copy or ask us to send you a printed one.
It is very important for us to continue to attract new residents who feel enthusiastic at the prospect of bringing their skills to this small, robust island community. We hope that you might be just such a skilled and enthusiastic prospective resident, and that what you read about Sanday in this booklet might reinforce your interest in choosing the island as a place to live and work - and in which to bring up your children.
In the meantime, we would very much like to give you the opportunity to look at a variety of other material which will give you a fuller picture of what Sanday has to offer, and we have prepared an information pack for this purpose. To request your pack and/or to arrange an opportunity to discuss relevant issues such as employment prospects ; business opportunities ; availability of property to rent or buy ; or educational provision on the island, please do not hesitate to contact me by telephone on 01857 600 381 or by e-mailing me at:chairman@sandaydevelopmenttrust.org.uk.
I look forward to hearing from you
Yours sincerely,
Susan McArthur
